    The Arts and Sciences Honors Program, in conjunction with The Princeton Review, will sponsor a Free GRE Information Session on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008. At this event, an expert Princeton Review instructor will introduce you to the structure of the GRE, review some of the questions you will see on the exam, and provide proven techniques to help you get the score you want. OFFICE OF UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AT THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY
The Undergraduate Research Office offers weekly info sessions to help students learn how to develop a research topic, find and secure a research mentor and explore where to find the resources to help make research a part of your undergraduate education. Snacks provided! All sessions held in Page Hall, room 310G.

  • 2008 Grilly Summer Undergraduate Research Scholarship
    The Ohio State University Department of Physics is pleased to announce the 2008 Grilly Undergraduate Summer Research scholarship. The scholarship will suppport undergraduate students pursuing research projects with an approved faculty sponsor during Summer 2008. Program Dates are June 16, 2008 through August 22, 2008. The program is open to declared undergraduate Physics and Engineering Physics majors currently studying at The Ohio State University. The program is competitive.

Internships, Summer Internships, Summer REU's, and Specific Permanent Positions:

  • SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FELLOWSHIPS
    The OSU Institute for Energy and the Environment wants to be sure that you are aware of the pending deadline for the second annual 2008 Sustainable Energy Fellowship Program for undergraduate juniors and seniors and students in the first year of a Masters program.
    Students may apply online at http://www.teachenergy.org/apply. The deadline to apply is 18 April, 2008. Applicants must have two faculty references. The 2008 program will be held at Duke University, 24 -31 May. A maximum of 40 students will be accepted, and expenses for those students will be covered by the program.
    The program brings faculty from Arizona State, Cornell, Duke, and University of Michigan together to provide students a unique learning experience that explores sustainability, biocomplexity, conventional and renewable energy, demand side management, climate- energy systems, policy, national security, economics, and the role of institutions. Students will get hands-on experiences at actual generation facilities and demonstration sites in addition to lectures and discussions with thought leaders.
  • THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH OFFICE - SUMMER RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
    The URO is accepting applications through April 7, for its brand new 2008 Summer Research Fellowships. Twelve students will get paid $3500 to conduct 10 weeks of full-time, independent research with an OSU faculty member; students are responsiblge to secure the collaboration ofa committed faculty mentor and to defind their own research project.

  • SUMMER REU - THE NEW JERSEY CENTER FOR ENGINEERED PARTICULATE (NJCEP)
    During the 10-week program, 10 undergraduate students, selected on a competitive basis from various universities throughout the USA, will live on campus while working on challenging research alongside NJIT faculty and graduate students. The research projects will involve unique topics dealing with synthesis, characterization, and applications of nano-particles as engineered composites, focusing on developing fundamental understanding of particle interactions and their influence on final product, which may be existing consumer products (e.g. sun-screens) as well as novel materials (e.g., new cancer drugs or advanced-energetic materials). Students will benefit from a strong research group that includes established faculty researchers and their graduate students, working on collaborative activities in nanotechnology.
  • SUMMER STUDENT PROGRAM at LAWRENCE BERKELEY NATIONAL LAB
    The Computing Sciences and Information Technology centers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory are hosting a 12 week research Summer Student Program for 2008. Below is a link to a word document with details of the program and instructions on how to apply.

    The program is geared toward students between their junior and senior years who have completed core courses in computer science, mathematics, and related areas of study. The exact starting date is at the mutual convenience of the students and the needs of the program.

  • 2008 UNDERGRADUATE INTERNSSHIP PROGRAM, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA BERKELEY - CENTER OF iNTEGRATED NANOMECHANICAL SYSTEMS (COINS)
    University of California, Berkely, June 23 - August 15, 2008. Work with leading scientists in this exciting field of research. Focus on the most important and compelling topics in nanotechnology. Gain direct research experience that will help prepare you for a career in science. Program participants receive: $4,000 stipend, Room and board - UC dorm plus full meal plan.

  • INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY WITH BATTELLE
    Battelle is a world leader in science and technology research. Our Energetic Systems and Security Technology (ES&ST) group specializes in research, development, test and evaluation of specialty weapons, protective systems, explosive detection equipment and hardware associated with national security. ES&ST is seeking an intern for part-time work in Columbus, Ohio.
    Primary job requirement is administration and maintenance of a Beowulf Cluster. Other responsibilities include general PC support, network administration, and technical support of ES&ST research and development projects as appropriate. Experience with Finite Element Analysis is also desirable
    Candidate resumes must demonstrate the following minimum requirements in order to be forwarded for consideration:
    • Junior or Senior Level Undergraduate in Computer Scinece, Computer Engineering, Physics or related field (must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree)
    • Experience in cluster computing
    • Availability to work 15-20 hours per week through the school year
    • Must be a United States citizen with eligibiilty to obtain and maintain DOD Secret Clearance
    • Must have experience in administration and maintenance of a Beowulf Cluster.
