Longitudinal Evolution in Heavy Ion Collisions
Declan Keane (Kent State University)
This talk begins with a review of two projects within the STAR
collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider -- the addition of
transverse segmentation to the Zero-Degree Calorimeters and on-going
preparations for a Beam-Energy Scan at RHIC. Then, the remaining time
will be devoted to observations on a little-noticed trend, quite
unrelated to the progress of physics and technology, in how research has
been conducted in the field of relativistic heavy-ion collisions over
the past couple of decades.
