Facilities for (p,n) Physics.
Research has primarily involved three different user facilities:
- Indiana University Cyclotron Facility
Most of our current research is focused on (p,n) work at IUCF.
The facility provides a 300 nA beam of polarized protons, a set of swinger magnets for momentum transfer studies, and a 160 meter flight path.
For more details on the detector and facility check this local page or the IUCF home page.
- Los Alamos National Laboratory
Currently the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) has stopped doing any nuclear physics studies, but it is worth mentioning that a good deal of the past (p,n) work was done there at the NTOF facility.
However the WNR user facility at LANSCE is still active in doing (n,p) studies with neutrons from a spallation source.
- TRIUMF
TRIUMF, in Vancouver, Canada, has served us as a user facility for doing (n,p) studies with a 7Li(p,n) production reaction and the SASP (Second Arm SPectrometer) as the detector for the outgoing protons.
